Ok so I read the story about the new PS3 and their support for the new 3D standard. The question I have, is what kind of new TV will you need. I thought it was said that as long as you had a Blu Ray player and a newer 1080p TV, you would be able to enjoy the new 3D technology?

yes. "sigh, groan, and argh". you will need a 3-D capable set to get the benefit. samsung offers that benefit in their current line of DLP sets and I am sure their are other manufactures as well, with surely more to follow..

Which is exactly why I don't see 3-D for the home catching on too soon. People are just getting into high definition, and now they will be asked to buy a special TV set and a special Blu-ray player specifically for three-dimensional playback. Oh, and the glasses or goggles or whatever you have to wear. To say nothing of only a few motion pictures taking advantage of the process, at least at first.

There will be, of course, a few well-heeled early adopters. And it's not like the new sets and players won't be backward compatible. They will be. Still.... It's a chancy investment at best.

Yes, you will need a special TV.

All major brands will have sets ready next year.

OMG, I'm bleeding....bleeding!

What a crock and that after they said that you would be able to adopt this if you had a NEWER 1080p TV and a Blu Ray player.

Thanks for the info guys.

Do you think that the digital projector market will see 3D projectors for the home? Think they will be expensive like over $2000? would it be a chip config or a firmware update? There should be 3D projectors, I mean thats what they use in theaters. Probably would be better than a 3D LCD or Plasma. Large field of view etc...ability to dial it in...
