Whoa! That's obscure! Makes graphically violent, sexually explicit films, no? I haven't seen either of the movies you mention, but I've heard of them. Seems to be developing into a serious filmmaker despite the content of his stories.

I watched "Irreversible" a couple weeks ago, and I hate to say I actually found it disturbing. I'm usually open to most all expressions of art but this one truned my stomach a few times. I did like the whole concept of going in reverse and how the characters are taken back into a better time. The way it was filmed even seemed to be a bit inspiring and original. Many times the camera work made me fill a bit dizzy but I'll admit I liked it. I guess if it was a film made to shock people then it does the job it was set out to do. It will certainly be interesting to see what Gasper Noe does in the future.

Tim, you basically got the point of the going-in-reverse decision--the filmmakers showed us what was lost rather than ending the movie with "the scene". Most movies that end with "the scene" can not help but turn viewers into voyeurs, even if they are against the act being depicted.

The rape/beating scene is really explicit and can be tough to watch. The whole reverse thing is a nice touch ala Memento. As Tim says, the camera work can make you dizzy if you watch too intently! Overall, I enjoyed it.
