I have a Sony BDP-S550. I've only had it a few months (since my LG died), and it has played discs beautifully, until now. I have installed the latest firmware (v 019), but it will not play Crank 2. I have tried 2 different copies, and both did the same thing - a high voltage "loading" graphic comes up, it gets to about 3/4 finished, and then it stops. The previews then start, but the graphic stays partially on the screen, and the previews (and eventually movie) are only visible in the small space in the middle of the screen where the loading graphic has partially disappeared. I've tried everything, but can't get a full picture. Anybody else have this problem? Any ideas?

Do you have a friend with another bluray player? Try it out on their player. I'd be surprised if it was your player, especially since this is the first disc to do anything like this. Look out for another firmware update to come out soon. Maybe search online to see if other people are experiencing the same issue with this movie.

I wonder if PS3 owners and/or Panasonic owners are also experiencing the same issue. Yes I realize the PS3 is a Sony product but that thing will play anything.

Its a known issue. I reviewed this title here at dvdtown and I could only play this BD on my PS3. From what I have read, plug a USB drive and then your BD player to internet. That should fix it. Basically, there is a BD feature accessing something on the net and then storing it on the player. Let me know if this fixes the issue.

I have a Sony BDP-S550 and had no problems with Crank 2.

EDIT: Do you have the 1 GB USB drive that comes with the 550 installed?

Thanks, everyone. I guess the 1 GB memory stick wasn't in properly. With a USB drive in, it worked like a charm. Thanks for the suggestions. Strange that it has never happened with any other discs. I had actually searched "Crank 2 Blu ray loading" and other variations before posting, and didn't find anything. If you loved the first Crank, and Shoot Em Up, you'll love this one as well. If not, skip it.
