Surrogates was filmed partially in my neck of the woods. Some of the robot props were made in a motorcycle/metal shop north of Boston and there was some filming not too far from where I live. I love to see movie and series shot locally: Fringe, Knowing, etc. This one should be interesting. There was an article in the Boston Globe (ugh) some time back diccussing the filming and the robots, but I can't find it. Here's a blog I came across:

We now have Tim Raynor's review up for the new Touchstone Pictures film SURROGATES... (starring Bruce Willis).

~ VIEW HERE

Tim says the film has some interesting moments and thought-provoking ideas/issues, but much is left unexplored in favor of progressing as a standard sci-fi action-thriller, and storywise is similar in some ways to GAMER (released to theaters a few weeks ago - also reviewed by Tim).

Similar to Gamer, yes. Surrogates is about 1 billion times better than that crapfest.

Well, while I like Jason's review on it, too, (http://www.themovierambler.com/2009/09/movie-review-surrogates.html) it just didn't feel that much better than Gamer. In some respects, yes, it is far better and a deeper thought for discussion, but I still felt the delivery was rushed and obviously a bit low budget. Nevertheless, it has Bruce Willis in it, so it's all good.
