If anyone is interested in high-end speakers, here are the pair I use to listen to music, the VMPS RM40s: http://classicalcandor.blogspot.com/2009/10/vmps-rm-40-loudspeakers-loudspeaker.html.

I've been using them for several years now, and they are excellent. If I had a big enough home-theater room, I'd love to use them for movie listening, too. But, unfortunately, they're just too big for my little home theater. VMPS make a fine center speaker and several nice bookshelf and surround speakers to complement the big system, so maybe their bookshelves will someday find their way into the home theater. I'm hoping.

Wow those are HUUUUUGE.

I like this quote from one of the links in your review...

"The speakers were so impressive that they moved at least one judge to tears." - Tech TV

EDIT: Just out of curiosity, what amp were you using to drive those?

I bi-amp the RM 40s with a pair of Onkyo M-501 amps producing 150 w per channel. One amp powers just the bass for each speaker. The other amp powers the midrange ribbons and tweeter for each speaker. The stereo preamp is an Integra P-304. The primary CD player is a Sony CDP-XA20ES. The secondary CD players are a Sony SACD unit and a Philips.

Very nice. Bi-amping would definitely help those beasts.

I'm thinking of getting the Oppo bluray player and SACD playback is one of the reasons. I've heard some multi-channel SACD's (through an older Oppo 981 or 983 model, can't remember which) and they are soooo good. Alternately I've been seeing some Marantz SACD players (kinda expensive though) and was thinking of hooking it up via analogue to my receiver.

I wish studios would release more bluray concerts!!

By the way John, have you tried to put those speakers up on Audiogon? Give that a shot. Maybe a local high-end electronics shop can sell them for you too?

There is always a buyer for some high-end speakers like that. Good luck with the sale.

Exactly what "sale" would that be, Falcon? I never mentioned having anything for sale. I sold my old Fulton J speakers about four years ago and have been more than happy with the VMPS RM 40 loudspeakers ever since. That was the whole point of my article. You kind of lost me there.

Thank you, Reaggie. I usually depend on Eddie to provide the Spam can. I appreciate when other readers are equally on the ball.

No, the VMPS RM 40 loudspeakers are definitely not for sale. I love them. But I did write up a darned good review of them at Classical Candor:

Did I mention that?
