Variety reports:

Quote:
In a surprise development, Adrien Brody has been set by 20th Century Fox to play the heroic mercenary who battles alien hunters in “Predators,” a reboot of the “Predator” franchise that is being creatively spearheaded by Robert Rodriguez.

Fox has set the film for release July 9, 2010.

Christian "The Lisp" Bale must've turned it down...

I doubt we'll ever see a better 'Predator' than Kevin Peter Hall. He was by and large the best actor for the roll. I mean, how many 7' tall method act0rs can there be out there?

Adrien Brody. Everybody's favorite action hero. Well, I mean, he worked so well in "King Kong."

John,

Ugh, every time I think of Adrien Brody as the next human "hero" in the upcoming Predators movie, I think of him playing this role as the mentally challenged Noah Percy in Shayamalan's The Village. Don't get me wrong, I think that was an Emmy winning performance, but Schwartzenegger's role? Even Michael Biehn isn't as tough as Arnold, but pulls off the tough guy roll in Aliens and Terminator, very well. They should get Biehn to play the part.

I can just see Brody doing that clapping the hands and laughing thing, as the Predators are coming to get him.

I don't know. I thought there would be no way in heck Robert Downey Jr. could have pulled of the roll of "Tony Stark" in Iron Man, but he did it brilliantly, I thought. I guess all we can do is wait and see.

bladerunner1 and various other government agencies predict that this movie will suck.

however with beihn and chewbacca (peter mayhew) onboard with minimal to zero cgi it could be decent.

In that article, they say that it is going to be like Schwarzenegger's role in the orig. Predator. So, now we're comparing Adrian Brody to Arnold Schwarzenegger.

That's like comparing a twig to a tree trunk.

Well, you know how it all goes now days - they'll have Adrian where a green suit so CGI animators can go in later and add in all the muscles.

LOL @ Tim.

Even Hollywood would not be THAT pathetic. I hope not anyway. Apparently Brody really fought hard for this role but I don't see how he can compare to Arnold for this. Maybe he won't try to compare, maybe he will just try to do it completely differently.

Still it will be pretty hard to come close to Arnold in THAT role. Actually the whole cast was pretty awesome.
