i know im probably going to get the idiot treatment for asking this, but i really wanna know will the bluray edition of transformers 2 will have the IMAX framing similar to what we saw in dark knight?

i think it'd be cool if it were there!

i know it wasnt the most well recieved movie critically, but im still looking forward to getting this movie considering it was (albeit sugar loaded) eye and ear candy for sure!

PS - when's the review up?

The IMAX version of the film will be Walmart exclusive.

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=12534009

This will be the one that opens up like "Dark Knight." The Blu-Rays at other retailers will have "normal" framing.

its a VERY VEEEERRRRRYYYYY good thing i work electronics at walmart (let alone i have one of the newer elctronics departments equipped with big screens hooked up with a blu-ray theatre system).

bad news we will probably not be showing it due to a questionable scene in that movie... pity. and we even got away with showing grease too (remember the "blue moon" scene? we got away with that one)

this movie was a big loud dumb mess.

but I am still going to get it.

precisely for the same reason that you are going to get it.

"presentation."

we can throw this in, jump to any part of the "movie"..get our demo fix..and jump right on out again. and we will feel as if we didn't miss a thing.

if this thing can't sell you on blu-ray, then I imagine nothing will.

But can't you do the same thing with "Transformers," which was a far better film? Why the need for two such films, the second one being simply a two-hour extension of the final battle in the first one?

john,

this being a democracy, we have to let people be idiots. they have that right.

here here..I concure with eddies statement because frankly he hit the nail on the head.

I am indeed a sucker/idiot for good looking "action porn", and the first movie just doesn't make IT "transform" anymore (its used up) hence I need to ROTF (lmao) with this one for awhile...

oh..almost forgot. for those of you who will also be buying this drivel...for quality entertainment purpose...rather than demo the IMAX sequences are nothing like the dark knight in execution. I am hearing really bad things about the ending in particular as in it is a choppy mess going back and forth between IMAX and the normal aspect ratio (2.35.1) furiously between cuts. for those who have seen the movie think of all of "devastator" scenes at the end and apply IMAX only to those with all of the rest of the battle going on around devastator' being shown in the normal aspect ratio. yeah jarring not unlike this PpPpPPppPPPpPpP..etc.

I haven't seen this movie yet but I will surely get it. Best Buy has a "Door Busters" special (midnight events in some areas and during the first two hours of the store opening) selling it on Blu Ray for $21.99 and Papa Johns has a coupon for $3 off the movie. I looked on the Papa Johns site and it says that the $3 is off the DVD but my coupon at home says both DVD and Blu Ray, so we'll see.

I bet Tim has had both the walmart and amazon copy preordered secretly for months.

I'll get the Wallyworld version and if the scenes seem to choppy at the end with cutting back and forth from Imax to regular then it will be time to look into other versions. I'm hoping you have a choice when watching the film. Now that would be cool.

bladerunner,

i'm only teasing both you and john. at the end of the day, we watch what makes us happy, and that's all that anyone can really do.
