View profile »We do our best to add titles to the database, and the studios provide us with their mainstream, official UPCs for those widely available editions that can be sold anywhere. But with today's availability of "exclusive" editions (so numerous from a variety of retailers and online), well, it would be too much work for us to keep up with these other editions.
Also, the studios do NOT include these editions on the Press sites we log into where we receive the data (nor do they publicize them to us either). So, unless I had -that- data, I could not list the particular edition's UPC number, nor the special features (as I don't know the information - see?).
Right now, we list DVD, Special Edition DVD, and Blu-ray. In the future we will also have to add Blu-ray 3D.
Also, we don't usually enter Canadian, or foreign-release disc editions, although we've made a few exceptions (from requests, or for reviews, etc).

Thanks for your reply. I now understand the restrictions of trying to get every movie ever produced on DVD or Blu ray into your database. However, (and I don't mean to be a pain in the arse), wouldn't these popular editions, that would probably sell more than, say an obscure movie that someone requests, be ideal candidates for something to add to your database.
Wizard of Oz and Transformers? Not everyone might love Transformers, but you have to admit it will sell...even the Wal-Mart edition.
And if I am not mistake, the special features would be the same except for the box o' swag and the dig. copy w/Wiz. of Oz, and the IMAX version being added to the Wal-Mart 2 disc-er.
If you do this service based on "special requests", why was my request not special enough to warrant an addition to the database? lol
Thanks for your time anyway, I was just curious.
