One of the problems is that AEG and Sony (I believe?) hyped This Is It so much because of the popularity Michael once had. Yes he was still popular in the end but a lot of fans jumped ship after Thriller because thats when he started getting ummmm cooky. I know that I was looking at him differently when Bad came out but still liked some of his music. Then there's the lawsuits, accusations (especially this), physical appearance changing drastically, etc and people just wanted to stay away from him altogether. However now that he's gone some of those same people are sad that he's gone. That's why you heard Jesse Jackson, or maybe it was Al Sharpton, say to the media something to the effect of "Where was all this love for Michael when he was alive?" His fans of course are pretty much heartbroken as dramatic as that sounds.

Another issue is that there was propaganda saying the shows were sold out in certain cities so people didn't bother going based on the assumption that there were no tickets available. I was in my car a couple of days ago listening to the radio and they were talking about this very subject. Saying how there were promos or whatever saying the tickets were sold out yet there are lots of seats available in the theatres. I think someone in marketing thought it would create higher demand if they said the shows were sold out or something but it backfired. I could be wrong though as that is just my theory.

Now I read somewhere that they are extending it for longer than the orignial 2 week run so I don't know what gives.

What we need in here is a voice of reason, a voice of logic, a voice of calm deliberation. Quick, find me such a person.

OK, I admit to loving music and spending my last forty years writing about it. I also admit to never having heard a single Michael Jackson song from beginning to end. Sue me.

However, regarding the other Michael, Bay, I liked "The Rock" quite a lot, and I liked most of the first "Transformers" film. That must be worth something.

John, all we have here is vastly different opinions about an artist and his music. I think one of the major reasons that it's such a heated debate with Michael is because some of the things he was accused of, but never convicted of, which Eddie mentioned.

I happen to agree with some of the things Tim said about Mike, but as far as the accusations, I don't know if he really could do those things. Other people however have already made up their minds and believe he did them while others don't believe it for a second. It's probably something we will not know 100% for sure so for me there's no sense in arguing about it.

For me he was a great artist/entertainer, was underrated as a singer and the he was almost electrifying as a dancer. So much so that he made you wanna dance and has been the inspiration for so many professional dancers worldwide. If others don't feel similar about Michael, that's totally fine. I have zero issues with that. We all have different tastes and that's ok with me.

By the way I think the Yankees are gonna win the World Series tonight. :p

Yeah, that is something that made me suspicious, too. Before it was released, they were showing some 30plex theatre in L.A. that had all 30-rooms sold out for his movie. From there I figured the weekend sales would be the levels of a major blockbuster - plus all the fan hype after his death and media hype over his career over the last month. To me, with all those factors in place, it totally surprises me it didn't go over 60mill in North America last weekend. Perhaps the hype about MJs fan base is overrated?

Don't tell that to Chris!

1) just because people don't always catch bad guys doing bad things doesn't mean that those bad guys didn't do bad things.

2) a lack of a conviction doesn't mean that bad people didn't do bad things.

come on, what is this? are you guys actually naive or "forgiving" jacko just because you have hard-ons for him?
