Actually, it's the other way around. Surrogates is a much better film...though neither are really wonderful.
You could probably compare them both to anything made for $5 and posted to YouTube and still be disappointed. Gamer is mind-numbingly awful Surrogates is passable because it at least tries.
And the words "Gamer" and "score" should never be used in the same sentence. Someone needs to change that. :p

SPOILERS
and as it turned out in the end there was never any threat to begin with! if you created the surrogates surely youd know if there was a way to take them all out wihout harming the user!? it just felt like they added a big bad for the sake if it...
gamer on the other hand had its premise clear and didnt screw around, it just got straight to the point.
surrogates was more original
gamer didnt fall into the trap of taking itself too seriously
my opinion of course, however wrong it may be in the eyes of others! )

Nope, didn't screw around with things like logic (how did the wife get into and out of the world so easily) or plausibility (how did the Kyra Sedgwick character also get in and out). It was an orgy of action for the sake of action, the "real" story as a second thought.
That's the great thing about opinions...
