I really see the future for home audio to gravitate towards less speakers, not more. I'm actually shopping around for soundbar home theaters right now. With a soundbar you just have to hook up one speaker and maybe a sub. Most of these aren't quite matching the quality of a decent 5.1 system, but I can see in time the technology getting better for these systems.

Quote:People come into my place and usually they ask me sarcastically if I have enough speakers. If you have a dedicated theatre room than ok fine but most people use their living rooms. Ah well, bring on the improved video I say.

I get the same comments! Along with "It's too ******'n loud.!" I guess people just don't understand quality.

My daughter and son in law just bought a speaker bar with a wireless subwoffer. I don't know the brand at the moment but I think it was fairly expensive. I'll install it next week when they move into their new house.

Thats tech. for you! when your gettign confortable, somethign else arrives. which is fine. not everyone sees it that way though.

I figure, you just gotta draw a line. make decent purchases, while enjoying Great Tech... and move on.

As you get older, people probably add and remove titles from their library. i know I do

also,- bring on the 22 speakers. lol
and, -1500 favorite titles? maybe 1000 movies i liked, 500 really liked, and 300 worth collecting.

Steve, let us know how that works out. I was thinking of setting up the same thing in a bedroom.

Stevo73,

I think that will depend heavily on the quality and accuracy of the sound and it's direction. After all, if these speaker bars don't convince you that a sound is coming from distinct directions around you, what's the point of having surround sound at all?

Quote:long with "It's too ******'n loud.!" I guess people just don't understand quality.

StevePro,

In my experience, these are the people that would prefer to watch their movies on a 13" TV/Monitor through a 2 Ch. (OR LESS) speaker setup, and usually exclaim "Why would you spend thousands of dollars on a huge TV and stereo system, just to watch a movie?"

Quote:1500 favorite titles? maybe 1000 movies i liked, 500 really liked, and 300 worth collecting.

kucoloco,

"Collecting", whether it's movies, scale models, vehicles, or just plain junk (I'm talking to you people that regularly visit yard sales!) can be a disease. I think I might have a minor case of the "disease". I have a nasty habit of collecting every movie I've ever liked, even if it was only a little bit, or only liked a certain part of the movie.

I'm seeing a theatrical therapist and I'm starting my 12 step program with "It's ok to walk past the $5 bin at Walmart WITHOUT browsing!"
