I remember last year I read about the anouncement of special editions of both Crimson Tide and Enemy of the State on another site (dvdanswers) but nothing ever came about.

Any word on those?

There is still no official word from the studio press sites about special editions of either of these films. This is why DVD Town does not officially engage in idle speculation and gossip, fun as it may be.

I wish Buena Vista would make Region 1 special editions of both of those films, particularly Crimson Tide which is, for my money, one of the best military thrillers ever made. Like most titles from that studio, it was never released in anamorphic format. I'm not a huge fan of Enemy Of The State, but it certainly merits a special edition and an anamorphic treatment. And to add insult to injury, our Region 4 counterparts received special editions of both films in 2002, which were widescreen-enhanced and flush with extras.

I'll agree on both counts! "Crimson Tide", to date, is still one of the best Military genre thrillers! That's one I can watch over and over! While "Enemy Of The State" was sort of underrated, I still like that film a lot as well. It's a rare thing to find a 'bad' "Gene Hackman" film! The guy is just one of the greats!

Somehow Crimson Tide: Special Edition made its way to my Australian shores in 2002. Briliant PAL Transfer and it only cost me $9.95AUD.
