Just wondering what people's favorite scenes are in ROTK. Mine would have to be when Frodo collapses on the side of Mount Doom and Sam trys to get him to remember the Shire and he then heroically picks him up and continues on. This scene brought tears to my eyes and is probably the best scene of the entire trilogy. My runner up for favorite scene is tough but I would have to pick either Gandalf telling Pippin about life after death or when the Rohans charge onto the Pellonar Fields at dawn. I also love when Pippin lights the beacons of Gondor, man I could go on forever about my favorite scenes in this film.

That was a bit of a tear jerker. I thought the scene where Pippin is singing was extremely powerful. The part that got me a little misty eyed would have been where Frodo is saying goodbye to the Fellowship just before he get's on the ship.

My favorite scene would have to be when Eowyn cut's off the head of the Witch King's Fell Beast. I found myself the only person in the theater screaming "yeah!" when she did that. Or, the part when Legolas took down an "Elee-funt" and Gimly says "That only counts as one!" I laughed so hard my stomach hurt! Since I haven't read the books, it's been hard to keep my friends (that have read them) from giving away anything. That said, the part where Frodo get's impaled by Shelob, just about put me in shock. Another would be when Gollum finally get's the ring at the end, and get's knocked into the lava... I love that he's so completely focused on "the precious" that he's not even the least bit concerned that the lava is enveloping him. He just get's swallowed up with this cheese eating grin on his face! Which brings me to another point... do you think if Gollum had been able to some how keep the ring for another 500 years, he would have just turned into a newt?

Now that you mention it that is a really good scene and it does you feel more for Faramir then you used to. Pippin singing in that scene really helps add a lot of emotionally effect along with Howard Shore's wonderful score.

I liked the suicidal charge led by Faramir. To me, that scene brought up a lot of moral complexity that "LOTR 2" and most of "LOTR 3" lacked.

Looking back at the entire series (or one big film for some), I find that my favorite depictions are of Boromir and of Faramir. Interesting, huh?

My favorite is the girl killing the Death King. You know, his dragon gets his head chopped off. Death King dude says, "Fool, no man can kill me" Then she says, "I am no man" then stabs him in his face. It was beautiful!

Pippin singing.
The Hobbits, returned to the Shire in full battle uniform, walking past another Hobbit, who rolls his eyes- was in Fellowship briefly.
Frodo sending Sam away; a surprise for the "well read".
Frodo forgetting what Sam did -saving the ring- and turning his attention to grabbing it back.
Theoden's and Aragorn's pre-charge rallying speaches.
Gandalf to Pippin: (approximately) "you should probably say nothing at all".
The BIG battle.
Pippin (again) lighting the fire alonq with it spreading all the way to Rohan.

What about when Gandalf and Pippin arrive at Minas Tirith? That for me is the most visually stunning scene, especially when they go up through all the levels to the very top. Just an amazing view from up there. Come to think of it, there are a lot of scenes where the characters are way up in the air(i.e. Cirith Ungol-love those scenes, and Dunharrow)

Yes, these movies go extreemly vertical at times, very stunning.
The heights on Minas Tirith suddenly became much higher when I realised that there were actually people up there, along with some very effective camera angles.
However, the extreme heights of Barad Dur and Mt. Doom made Mordor seem a bit too small for me.
*When everyone bowed to the Hobbits was also really good.
