Hey! Are you guys gonna have anything for the new DVDs for John Wayne's "The High and The Mighty" and "Island in The Sky"? THATM has been in so much release controversy that I hope you would have mentioned it by now. Maybe the Duke isn't on your Politically Correct list? - Come on Dudes! You're not all Radical Lefties after all, are you? 8)

Gee, Gacky, not sure who will do treatment on those precious films. All depends on which critic handles the studios they're coming from. I'm sure if you keep begging, someone will call to your needs. ;)

Gee, Timmy, that makes me feel so much better knowing that. Now are you going to do a treatment on the movies or not? :)

gacman,

we don't have a politically correct list that I know of. If your worried about racist actors and our feelings towards them, then I can assure you there were probably many of them in the Duke's time. We're here to write about movies, the insight of films and how they make us feel. I don't believe any of us could care less about an actors point of view on a political stance, unless you live in California where it matters ;). I don't think any of us here would ban reviewing a film based on a person's political position. I reviewd "The Pianist" and plenty of people have issues with the director; did it stop me? no.

I think you need to understand that many things were different in the old days and being "Politically Correct" was not the major topic of the day. As a critic, I understand these differences and I feel all of us here are smart enough to take that into account. After all, look how much smoking was popular in those old films. Should we stop writting reviews for films made in the golden era of popular smoking, when, after all, it is considered a major taboo these days? Geez, you'd put poor ol' John out of work. :D

As I said, we write reviews for the content of the film itself and not whether we care about the actors or the creators on their political platform. We're here basically to tell you whether we like the film we saw or disliked it. What political views and actor or creator has, I believe we'll keep that to ourselfs. After all, we at DVD town know exactly where a political discusion can go, and I for one would rather not open that can of worms.

Hey Mikie,
You're just a youngster, but you sound pretty cool. Wayne had the Right ideas and made some really Good films. I'm just wondering if the Townies will do Him Right and give him some decent reviews with some write-up space like they do other Great Actors. 8)

I will only say two things:

1. No one can say that John Wayne was a racist because of the characters he played in the movies.

2. Political correctness is one of the stupidest ideas of all time.

And let's not forget "The Quiet Man," as lovable a piece of sentimental, fairy-tale nostalgia as the two Johns, Ford and Wayne, ever made.
