I was just at Best Buy and noticed that all the Superbit editions have been reduced to $9.99. There is no expiration date on this offer. The DVDs are marked at this price from the BB wharehouse. Thought I share this info with you guys. Looks like Superbit idea flopped.

Or possibly the Superbit idea succeeded beyond Sony's wildest dreams. Namely, most of the other big studios are now doing their regular issues at high bit rates, the equal of Sony's Superbit. It's why most recent DVDs from BV and WB, for example, look so much better than their earlier discs.
Now that other studios are doing high-bit-rate editions on a regular basis, Sony can't market their Superbit editions as anything special anymore, but I think they may have started the trend, for which I would commend them.

Or it might be Best Buy is trying to clean up their inventory. It is hard to convince a consumer to buy a $22-24 disc with no extras. The reason why superbit flopped is from Sony's perspective. Sony is not making gains on superbit releases. You are right that it succeeded because other studios have started the high bit rate trend. I can't say video quality on BV releases but WB is definitely on the upper scale. Either way it is consumers gain.
