Credence Clearwater Revival should get a cast credit for the inclusion of BAD MOON RISING, which was played during the first werewolf transformation scene. An AMERICAN WEREWOLF in LONDON still holds up as one of the best Horror movies to come out of the 1980's. (FRIGHT NIGHT, DAY OF THE DEAD, POLTERGIEST and THE THING are the other strongpoints.)
'WEREWOLF is a great blend of comedy, horror, sex, and music. John Landis will always be remembered for this low-key productions that came out of no-where in early 1981. Word of mouth made this hip (not hip hop) werewolf saga endearing to movie goers some 25 years ago.
Now, will the younger DVD generation go for this on the expensive HD format or will they resort the the economical standard DVD presentation? I wonder how the effects will rank along the CGI effects of today's horror movies which are not frightening at all.
I am not going to be supporting any of these new DVD formats. Not because they aren't technically satisfying, but I don't see the point of re-purchasing my movie library a second time over - the first being VHS video tape. Good titles like this almost make me want to eat my words.
