13 is my stepmom's lucky number. Don't let Jim Lovell hear her say that.
I have had a love for all things NASA for most of my life, so this movie was just the ticket. It's easy for us earth-bound observers to become removed from what these amazing individuals go through each time they are hurled out of our atmosphere and into the cold of space. Through Apollo 13, Ron Howard brings home the reality and humanity of these astronauts who risk their lives on mission after mission to further the cause of man's quest to understand the unknown.
A great companion piece to the quirkier Right Stuff, and a great movie in it's own right, Apollo 13 and its extraordinary across-the-board performances get a firm recommendation from this terralubber.
Sean (...not sure I've ever lubbed anything really, but there it is...)
