I watched a few episodes, but I thought the humor was dull and the characters are too far-fetched to even be believable. Fox has really tried to push this show by pumping out Ron Howards name behind it, and if that's true, then I think this is some of his worst work to date. I think it's one of the lamest shows I've seen on the Fox network and I hope it gets yanked soon.

Tim. (if only Henning would make a barfing emoticon I'd place it here)

This is a truly brilliant show. The cast all do an excellent "gob". The writers are geniuses. Tony Hale as Buster Bluth, is a scene stealer who makes me laugh non stop. The younger cast members Michael Cera and Alia Shawkat are also very talented. I love the way the writer adds so many small details in that will always pay off by the end of the episodes for example when Buster dives through the glass door etc.

It is an intelligent show and it needs an intelligent audience.

It's an intelligent show? You're kidding, right? Intelligent people wouldn't waste their time on such garbage and neither would I. :p

Dearest Tim,
The characters are far fetched absolutely. The scenarios are out the window true as can be. But beneath all the B.S. of the undoubtedly fabricated characters is a realness that if you allow it, will really stick with you. This story is completely character driven and the humor is actually very elevated. I think where it fails people, and failed you, is that it is an intelligent comedy but it is presented through a stupid medium. So the two levels don't balance for a lot of people. Anyone interested in the show needs to start from the very beginning because it is very character based.

The DVD release has great bonus features on every disc. My personal favorite is the original music composed for the show on the first disc.
