O Grady actually sued the makers of the film for Defamation of Character. Which should give you an idea of how accurate it is. Also O Grady was a Air Force pilot not Navy. His real life experience was just him surviving in the woods until a marine detachment picked him up.

I had heard that too, Movielover, and it made me think about all the things that the pilot might have found objectionable, in addition to the switching of service branch. His six days in the woods was undoubtedly different than anything this film would have us believe, though on the subject of fantasy, wouldn't it be something if O'Grady discovered this board and set the record straight?
