Excellent review that I wholeheartedly agree with! What a great film! Why "Seabiscuit" got nominated for Best Picture and this one didn't I'll never know. I would reccomend this film to everyone! I just love Tim Burton, and it's nice to see him return to good form after "Planet of the Apes", his inarguable worst film. But "Big Fish" may be his masterpiece. Why? Because he combines colorful characters, classic Tim Burton creepiness and visual style, great actors, brilliant cinematography/music and a compelling story with relevant commentary all into one without making the film a mess. This film could be considered fantasy or drama, and the lines between the two are often blurred. But the overall message of the film is that the connection between father and son cannot be broken, and having a good imagination is never a bad thing. I can't wait to see this wonderful film again.
"You say that you're too big for this town. Could it be perhaps that this town is just too small for you?"
Edward Bloom was a "Big Fish" in a small pond, he was one of a kind. I've had problems with my own Dad but not serious ones, but I took him to this movie and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. It made us question whether we took advantage of how much we valued each other and not wasting a moment we were together, because one day it will end and i will have regrets if we don't enjoy each other's company while we have it.

While I did like this movie, I have to say that I was somewhat disappointed in the ending. I felt it had the potential of a greater emotional impact, and actually thought it might go that route, but it pulled back too soon and became marred in its own trappings.
However, Billy Crudup rocks! This guy blows me away every time. I'm not sure if it's just that he's not a household name yet or what, but I have no problem beliving this guy in whatever movie he is in. A real talent to watch out for!
The rest of the cast is as excellent as their vaunted names would lead, and the production design adequately brings the tales told in the film to life.
A very good, but not great film. Definitely worth your time.
Sean (...whereas my own personal ramblings are not!...)

sony might go the "no insert" route completely one day. some of its titles (like this one) don't have inserts, and the ones that do end up with ads for other sony dvds rather than chapter listings.

did this come in a clear case? (mine from ebay is in a blockbuster case :@ ) i saw there was art on the back of the cover insert, and want to have a clear cover to see it (perhaps this is why no insert was included...)

yes, clear case.
another reason why buying from ebay isn't always so good.

you could've bought this at blockbuster yourself given that all used dvds are 2 for $20 regularly.
