[8 new footage images are displayed - more coming!]
=========================================

It's all packaged as one "Two-Sided DVD" folks - NO image label even ON the disk or any thick cover sleeve
(as much as I DETEST these kind of DVD's....)

One side is the EXTENDED version of the film with added footage plus bonus xtras,
the other side of the DVD has the standard theatre version w/MORE bonus xtras...

A BIG relief that this extended version is NOT simular to the latest 'STRIPES' DVD where there's yellow text
indicating where the new clips are - there's only about a minute of bonus footage per different scene extrap,
with the exception of TWO very good new scenes in which we see Elwood hiding the car
AFTER the mall chase and BEFORE they go up the stairs to bed...

...and the other where at his factory job, Elwood goes to his boss to inform him
he's quitting to become a PRIEST....

The print is excellent...the widescreen has NO huge top/bottom bars in a perfect ratio,
..and the AUDIO?...I swear the "Peter Gunn Theme" and Ray's "Shake Your Tailfeather" sound VERY improved on this disk!

A longer set of Hooker's "Boom Boom" showing the entire band is featured,
as well as more image captures as you'll see later on the above-referenced website..

All the bonus material is great, and Ackroyd is still all a-flutter to tell the tales of this movie and of Belushi -
There's even a "Tribute to John" segment that looks to be the ultimate one here....

Granted, this is a flick we've all seen tens of tens of times, esp on cable TV...

..but if you're still a HUGE fan of this movie and can afford at least $25 buckeroos,
I say GO GET THIS NEW DVD, but don't expect more than 12-13 minutes of TOTAL actual new footage,
along w/bonus features that sometimes APPEAR repetitious if you're NOT in the right mood...

**HOWEVER: We DO get to see a entirely different movie ENDING of about 2 minutes,
right after you see the cast sitting on those beachers singing the last line of "Jailhouse Rock"....

Bleh. I hate those double-sided DVDs. Sure they're economical, but it makes smudging by my fat fingers almost inevitable.

I agree. I'd rather have two separate discs with the content clearly labelled.
