Coppola's "Dracula" is definitely an acquired taste. A lot of people I know think it's much too overdone, much too over-produced, much too elaborate, much too over-the-top. But it's why I love it. Fun stuff. I mean, how else can you take vampire tales? I thought a "serious" vampire film like "Interview With the Vampire" was comparatively boring. Oh, well....

Well John, I loved "Iterview with the Vampire"; however, I love Bram Stoker's Dracula in the same respect. Both of them are very fine films in my opinion. ;)

I wish current filmmakers would take a little more of the romance away from Dracula and really make him more menacing. I've seen few scary vampire movies. The pilot for "Night Stalker" produced by Dan Curtis. I haven't seen it in years but I remember the vampire in that movie being very scary. Also "Fright Night" came close.
