This cover is BS. Where the hell is the platinum edition stamp? The others have it, why not this one? "First time on DVD" " Limited time only" "Bla bla bla". This is BS. :@ :@ :@

It seemed odd to me, too, that the keep case would display the words "First Time on DVD" and "Limited Time Only," but be assured that such wording does not appear on the actual product.

For publicity reasons, the Disney press site only made the cover shots available that you see. However, the keep case and slip cover that I have in my hands simply say "Platinum Edition." So, Poseur, your wish comes true, just like in the movies.

I hadn't, honestly, thought about picking this up until I saw your review, John. I haven't seen this since childhood and it never left the stamp on me that Bambi, Mary Poppins, or even Snow White did. But I'll be happy to give it another go round, especially considering how good you make the transfer sound!

John,

The review is nice and could easily temp anyone who has never seen the movie to buy this new release; however, I've seen it enough times when my daughter was very young, so you're review won't trick me! lol

Besides, you know exactly why I can't stand these old Disney classics . . . too much singing! ;)

Tim, there's also a bit too much of the mice. But in compensation there are always those bonus materials you love so well. No audio commentary, though; oh, well....

Justin, remember that that the original artwork for "Cinderella" is not as detailed or spectacularly beautiful as in "Snow White" or even "Bambi"; it's much plainer and simpler. But I can't imagine the transfer being any better, short of high definition.

Eddie,

I actually prefer the Gilligans Island dream sequence version of Cinderella known as "Cinderfella"

And let us not forget that "Cinderfella" was a 1960 Jerry Lewis movie.

"Cinderella" is just so darned archetypal it appears in fairy tale versions all across Europe and Asia. When we visited the Grimm Brothers Museum in Kassel, Germany, we saw wonderful old lithograph posters for "Aschenputtel" (Cinderella) and "Sneewittchen" (Snow White). I'm looking forward to watching this with my "Disney princess."
