This is by far the worst movie I have seen in a very long time. I did not expect much from the story and acting, but still I was dissapointed. Even most of the special effects where terrible.

Ben Affleck is totally mis-cast in this roll and shows how bad an actor he can be when given the chance. Everything right down to the cheesy red leather suit (wich looks like something out of an porn-shop) is simply laughable.

I liked this movie. It had a darker story than some of the other comic movies. It felt more like the comics I would read as a kid, Daredevil was one of them. Ben did a good job as Matt Murdock in getting the darker side of a superhero. The one complaint I had was the some of the fight scenes and CG effects were ripped off from Spider-Man.

I liked it. I didn't love it but I did enjoy it. I liked how the movie was dark and wasn't afraid if being tragic. I thought a lot of it was your typical comic-book BS, and at times it seemed like a direct rip-off of Batman. However, for a late winter filler film it's not as bad as some of the other garbage that's come out this year.

Ok, so there's nothing really ground-breaking about this movie, and Ben Affleck deserves his fair share of criticism. But still, this is one really enjoyable movie and it's very dark tone (even in broad daylight) sets it apart from other movies based on comics. In fact, just like another reader commented, I too felt that this 'darkness' made this movie closer to what comics are really like.

Somewhat darker than either Spider-Man or X-Men, but not a bad movie at all. Yes, they probably should have gone with another actor than Affleck, but he did the best he could

Well I decided to watch Spidey and Daredevil again a week or so ago and got halfway on each and decided to pop the dvds in and finish both of them up tonite.

Farrell ceases to disappoint me (one of my fav actors) . I believe this is the only movie (maybe besides Intermission) that he uses his natural accent? Might I say he does a very convincing American accent. I'm also glad they didn't kill Bullseye off and found the scene in the credits humorous. It's just too bad that he's gotten so big so fast he's at the point in which he isn't putting out 3-4 movies a year like he did until now. It makes me wonder what Alexander is going to be like.

I love superhero movies, and I couldn't wait to see this one because I like the comic-book, but when Ben Affleck was cast I knew right then this film would be a disaster. Even if you think about it, Daredevil is a red Marvel Comics version of Batman, and Batman is far superior. Anyway, this movie was bad. The acting, story, everything was bad. The director said in an interview that he wanted to make this movie as dark as "The Crow", and all the director did was try to copy cool styles from better superhero films. The only good thing was Colin Farrell as Bullseye and David Keith as Daredevil's dad. Problems with this movie are many:

1. Ben Affleck. 'Nuff said.

2. Jennifer Garner. Eye candy, but bad actor. When she was fighting Bullseye I said aloud, "it would be cool if Bullseye papercut her to death with that card" as a joke and that's EXACTLY what happened!

3. I couldn't stop laughing at the serious parts.

4. The fight scene in the bar was so dark that I couldn't see what was happening, and the fight scene in the playground was ridiculous.

5. The special effects were a total retread of Spider-man, a much superior film.

6. Kingpin was never menacing. He stood in front of a window with his cane to horrid rap music the whole movie.

7. Kingpin dropping a rose on Murdock's dead body was too reminiscent of Batman.

8. THE WORST PART ABOUT THIS MOVIE: Daredevil allows someone to get beaten and/or killed so he could have sex with Elektra. Remember that scene? I WAS SO PISSED! In a superhero movie, the heroes don't allow people to get hurt to have sex! I almost yelled in the theater! I'm still mad about it. He could have helped and he just let the guy get beaten up. ARRGH!

9. The make-out scene in the rain was another retread of Spider-man.

10. They tried to make you think Elektra wasn't dead in the end, solely so they could make a spin-off film. Like they couldn't resist throwing an unbelievable happy ending at you.

11. The movie was dark and depressing simply for the sake of being dark and depressing. The atmosphere was never utilized to further the story or flesh out the characters the way Burton's "Batman" films did. The best "superhero" film to utilize depression is "The Crow", and all the people that mentioned that they liked the dark tone should check out "The Crow" for a MUCH more rewarding experience. Films don't get much darker than "The Crow".

12. Elektra's last name was Natchios, but they always pronounced it as "Nachos" in the film which had me laughing repeatedly.

13. The fight scenes weren't bad, but they weren't special, and the fights (along with the rest of the film) was forgettable.

I wanted to like this movie, but I couldn't. It ranks with "Batman and Robin" with me, and I'd much rather watch Batman, Batman Returns, LXG, Spider-man, Hulk or the X-Men movies. The upcoming "Catwoman" looks bad enough to maybe beat Daredevil, but I can't wait for "Batman Begins".

My rating: 3 out of 10

It's interesting that you mention "Batman and Robin". The trailer for that movie got me very excited. I was especially touched by the line, "Friend, partner, brother...will you help me." It looked like it would take the "family" part of the story seriously, what with Alfred as a father-figure and Batgirl as a daughter. However, Schumacher turned everything--even Mr. Freeze!--into a joke. :.(

Eddie,

I agree, and think the only redeeming parts of Batman and Robin dealt with the familial relationships. Wayne's relationship with Alfred was exploited to great effect, as was his relationship with Robin. The conversations between Clooney and Gough were very well done.

Now, understand that I abhor Batman and Robin, and to say that it has any redeeming qualities is to understand that perfume can't make a pig anything more than a pig.

Best description of this one for me: decent.

Not horrible, but didn't take advantage of its full potential. Not to mention that it's relentlessly dark, which I guess was the point. In opposition to the review, I felt the ending was the thing that turned that dark tone, but I can see where it is much too little, much too late.

There are many movies out there much worse than this one. Not worth the purchase, but the free rental was A-OK with this dude.

Sean (...now if I just hadn't paid that couple of bucks for Revolutions...)
