Well, John does the movie-only disc have pre-loaded previews, or are there none to allow for a higher bitrate for the audiovisual quality? And are the DD 5.1 tracks encoded at 384 kps or 448 kps?

Vincent,

There are no commentaries on the film.

mcjw_serenity,

At start-up only there are previews for "The Painted Veil," "The Reaping," and "Blood Diamond." I don't usually mention these things unless they are actually on the extras menu. You can easily skip them by hitting the menu button. As for audio bit rate, I have no idea. My player does not indicate it, and I do not have a DVD computer program to display it.

Thanks, John.

This trend of no commentaries on great (or at least interesting) films, that thus merit one, is getting more and more irking. No commentary on Syriana especially annoyed me, but this is going to rank up there.

POSSIBLE SPOILER. I just saw the movie last night and thought it was tremendous. DiCaprio and Wahlberg were great. It was a big story told in a big way. However, I did wonder about a few plot elements. Why didn't anybody notice that Matt Damon lived in a $5000 per month apartment containing McIntosh stereo gear? What was the purpose of DiCaprio giving the envelope to Vera Farmiga if the contents were never revealed? Why wasn't the Farmiga character eliminated by Damon? If Nicholson was telling the truth to Damon in the warehouse about who else knew his secret, how did the other bad cop know about him at the elevator? Finally, how did Wahlberg about Damon? In spite of these questions, I really enjoyed the film. I loved Wahlberg and Baldwin. Maybe someone can tell me what I missed.
