Your making it out to be this great Greek goddess named Pussalia and putting it on a pedestal..
Great stuff, I can't wait for the extras.

Wait until you see the extra on how it was "done." It's amazing.

Thought the movie was very funny and ultimately had a positive tone concerning sex and relationships. My only gripe was the length of the unrated edition. It seemed to be at least 20 minutes too long. The waxing scene, however, was hilarious.

I agree about it being too long. I think they added minutes that must have taken the oomph out of it. It didn't really get going till the second half of the film. The first half seemed to have some funny scenes but a lot of them unnecessary. I wish I'd seen the theatrical release to see if it played better.

Funny parts, but yes, way too long. Not to mention, the entire reality of the film was too far-fetched. Come on folks, the guy was not that bad looking to have never been laid in 40 years; who's really going to believe that?

And I agree the premise was unlikely. But I could have bought it in a comedy if the sluggish first half had spent more time on developing a story I could get into.

Way to long for this type of comedy. I enjoyed the movie, don't get me wrong, but it seemed overly vulgar (trust me i didn't start watching an unrated movie called 'the 40 year old virgin' thinking it was going to be curse free). There was a lot of unneeded cursing in the dialog that had nothing to do with sex. It kind of brought me out of the movie. Just my opinion.
and for reference the point of the movie wasn't that he didn't look good enough to have sex, but that he chose not to.

Perhaps it is my own twisted life, but the dialogue was refreshingly familiar. I often engage in overtly sexual and crude discussions with groups of men while drinking and playing poker. It was quite "real" to me.

justin,
you know, it's a good idea not to tell people about that aspect of your life. ;)

Eddie,
It's not like my reputation can be tarnished any further after the goat cheese incident.
I've said too much.

Great review, Justin!
Goat cheese incident?...
Regardless of the overlength, I enjoyed this film far more than the "Wedding Crashers." The story was much more satisfying. The endings to both films may be absurd. But, at the very the least, the ending of "The 40-Year-Old Virgin" was funny unlike the disappointing last 30 min. of "Wedding Crashers."
