Why doesn't Spielberg use 2.35 anymore? Was it with the apearence of Kaminski that he gave them up and went for 1.85?

No. Spielberg doesn't like 2.35:1. "Minority Report" was the only film since "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" that was shot in 2.35:1. Kaminski and other cinematographers have to listen to what their directors want to use for image aspect ratios.
