i dont get the brown thing on the cover. is it a cardboard slip off thing?, because if that is the cover, i am pissed off. i think i saw this (the unrated version) on another site without the brown half-slip-cover. it just has elisha in very short shorts, with a low tube top, not nude. oooh how they tease!!!

Most people in any business or profession, no matter what others may think of their job, are there because they have chosen to be there. Interviews I've seen with adult-screen stars have indicated that most of them are happy and content with their fame and money. And to suggest that most producers in the adult-movie market are the kind of evil kingpins of corruption portrayed in this film is simply unfair.

Absolutely agree with John. Although, the movie is quite entertaining, must say. The sort of detached from reality version of life that I long for at the end of the day.

yeah, but you're still not understanding what john is saying--people in porn don't care about the same things as you do, which is why they're in porn in the first place.

I guess it all depends on how any individual looks at it. If someone wanted to pay me a crap load of money to have sex with women all day, I really would have to wonder if I'd have any complaints about it. Then again, at my age the opportunity of shagging is few and far between, so I guess I really wouldn't have a problem with it! LOL

dvd magic,
I'm not trying to defend the porn trade. I'm simply recognizing that it exists, and it exists because people choose it. People choose to participate actively in pornography as actors and filmmakers, and people choose passively to be a part of it by watching it.
One of my objections to "The Girl Next Door," as I said several times in my review, is that while it appears to condemn pornography, it uses the same (albeit watered-down) devices of sex and nudity to promote itself. To me, that is hypocritical.

I don't understand why any young actress would agree to play an ex-porn star in a teen sex comedy, then refuse to show at least 1 breast.
Also have a problem with <i>"UNRATED"</i> DVDs. There's barely anything different than the theatrical cut except maybe a shot or two more of a minor actress's breasts, or maybe a few words they weren't allowed to say in the R-rated version (like the 'Cu' word or even more 'F' words). Movies like this just like to be a ****tease (I choose to censor myself to avoid being banned, though I don't know the rules on profanity.)

I'm with you on this one, NRGKool. The "unrated" business simply means the movie as presented was not submitted to the motion picture ratings board, but potential buyers think it means something sexier or more violent than the regular theatrical version. Thus, the studios play on an audience's ignorance to sell them more product. Seems unfair.
Incidentally, we appreciate your not using profanity here. Our goal at the site is to exchange ideas and opinions, often differing opinions, but not to offend one another.

I know, John. Great that I just didn't get banned.
I know what <i>UNRATED</i> means. The MPAA didn't give the new version a rating, but they advertise it like it has more nudity or violence. Most think that it means the film got an NC-17 when they submitted it to the ratings board, but the version wasn't even submitted at all. Not only is this "Unrated" version forgettable, but the only thing I remember was different than the R-rated version was a shot of Eli watching a porno. Back to the subject, this one is just teasing you when the "former porn star" doesn't even show her rear, let alone a breast.

Incidentally, the same event happened to me during David Gray's "This Years Love", though before this movie was ever released.
