Vol 2 within 2 weeks of Hellboy, wonderful.
I'm not really liking the coverart. However, I'm ecstatic that the scene with Michael Jai White will be an extra.

I'm still anxious as to the release date of the uncut, unedited Kill Bill Collectors Edition with Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 as one film as originally intended. I heard it would be out by Christmas, but that's not for certain. I know it's coming out sometime. Does anyone know when, or what kind of spec. features will be added? THANX!
P.S. I'm also excited about the Michael Jai White scene, there is a short glimpse of it in the trailer that looks cool!
And I think the cover art is sweet, but the lettering size/location is somewhat awkward. I hope the coverart to the Collectors Edition is cool...
P.S.S. Kill Bill, especially Vol. 2, is one of the best films of the decade.

After the dissapointment of the first movie, I skipped this one in the theaters and will wait until the full CE comes out sometime next year.

It's funny you say that because the entire tone of the second movie is completely different from the first. You could of ended up liking this one.

i think he meant the disappointment of the first dvd...

Eddie,
I meant the movie. I've heard really good things about the second movie, but I can't bring myself to patronize it after the first stunk so heartily.

Ugh
What's with this awful cover art. I mean the posters release surround this movie were awsome, why must we settle for this watered down version to please pathetic masses.
Oh well, I will buy this dvd regardless because I am a consumer whore and I can't wait for the extra scenes involving Bill that we all saw in the trailers and said "WHAT THE F*&K" when we didn't see them in the movie. When does the collected edition with the extended-scenes-and-the-none-black-and-white-house-of-blue- leaves come out?

Just watched KB:V2 today!
IMO it's slightly better than V1 (V1 was wayyy too stupid and wanton) but really it all adds up to a pretty empty experience as a whole. Too many close-ups and dead space masquerading as "style". Pfft. At least there's some humor in this one.
On the upside.. DAVID CARRADINE IS AWESOME! To me he's the only one worth watching in Kill Bill!

YCH, how about that fight with Ellie? I loved it. It was so gritty... so backyard... but executed with such finesse.

Picked it up today. Loved the Michael Jai White scene.
I may have to buy the exclusive BB box that houses both dvds.

Or wait for the inevitable two-disc, special-editon boxed set Director's Cut with multiple bells and whistles. I mean, you know it's coming.

John,
He's referring specifically to a special deal that only Best Buy stores offer. If you buy either Vol. 1 or Vol. 2, you get a free empty cardboard box for both DVDs.

did anyone think Quint's writing wasn't up to par with this film, than on say: Pulp Fiction? Did this film feel a little slow to anyone else? Or am I just nitpicking?
Member since:

I as well thought it was slow at times. Seeing how the movie was split into two, it would seem a lot of filler was added to lengthen the film.

I thought so too. Still a great movie though. Combining one and two makes it one of my favs!

I neither liked nor disliked part 1. I felt it simply was what it was. But it managed to keep me interested despite my lack of exposure to the exploitation genre films it simultaneously parodies and reveres. After having just seen and fully enjoyed part 2 I feel part 1 is now elevated and is a better film being part of a greater whole. However, putting it out as 1 film would have been the better way to go. Especially if 30 minutes or so had been trimmed out of part 1. Particularly the anime sequence and the Crazy 88 bloodbath.
And speaking of blood, what is with Tarantino's fascination with sadism? He makes the most violent Martin Scorsese films seem tame in comparison.
All that said, though, I enjoy his films. And even though I'd rank Kill Bill (as a whole) last among the 4 it's still pretty damn good.

i thought the anime sequence was great, and explained the character very well. and the crazy 88 sequence was one of the best in the movie! in my opinion, of course.

The Anime sequence was well done, yes, but out of place in my opinion. Here you have 4 hours of live action (if you take the 2 movies as a whole) and this one 10 minute sequence is animated. And why? Not because of any artistic statement Tarantino wanted to make but in order to duck an NC/17 rating.
Why couldn't he just tone it down a bit? Did young O-Ren Ishii have to be a sexually abused 11-year old? I realize it's an adult story but it's still basically a comic book story.
One reviewer put it best when he said the movie suffers from the director's ego and the distributor's greed.
