John,

I dunno if you've ever heard of this, but some people are actually livid at Professor Higgins for his final line, describing him as an unrepentant misogynist.

Personally, I think that he's just a pompous ass who almost got what he deserved. I think that the line makes sense because 1) it fits his character, 2) the characters both acknowledge each other's natures, and 3) Eliza has come to love that part of him, too.

The Professor is a bully, all right. But Eliza is a match for him. In Shaw's 1916 follow-up, "Sequel: What Happened Afterwards," Eliza marries Freddy and after some complications they live quite happily running a flower shop.

Next to The Sound of Music, My Fair Lady is one of my favorite musicals. It's great to see that it is finally getting a great 2-disc SE workover.

Saw this film a while ago, loved it. I didn't' know there was a sequel! I will try to find some way to read it or see it.
