Stargate (DVD)

Nice review, Justin. It's strange, but I just watched this version of the film about a week before your review. I also felt the added scenes gave away too much. However, it kind of doesn't matter after you've seen the movie once. And you're right about the picture quality, simply beautiful.

I think my only issues with the film is the villains seem somewhat fake and they never really made me feel like there was a sense of pure threat. The acting was a bit wooden and stiff at times, but for this film it seemed to work well. Overall, it is a tastey little sci-fi treat that was delightfully entertaining.

Is there any reason in particular why my 'ultimate edition' contains but the extended cut and the featurette and audio commentary? Basically I'm missing the entire second disc! Is this some new reprinting or is this a canadian thing? Basically hoping I can take my Stargate back to HMV for an exchange for another movie, cause I like the theatrical cut more as well... Any info would help.

That might be. If you're missing the original edition, you're missing the best version of the film.
