Isn't there also supposed to a release of the original "Exorcist: The Beginning" from that other director? Becuase they filmed this movie twice for some reason, I think the viewer should get the option of watching the original.

They have said they will release Paul Schrader's original version, and i believe it will be a separate release though I'm not certain.
Since Renny Harlin's pitiful version was easily the worst movie of 2004, and one of the most genuinely appalling movies I have ever seen, I am curious to see just how much of this disaster was his fault and how much was in the initial conception.

C'mon, John, I know you've got a "1" rating in you somewhere. And if ever a movie deserved, it's this rancid pile of goat droppings. :)

Chris,
All things must be seen in perspective. Apparently, you've never seen "Freddy Got Fingered." Compared to "Freddy," I would nominate "The Beginning" for an Academy Award.

There's lots of room in the "1" category. Once you slip below a certain level of "suck," you just "suck" and there are no other degrees of "suck." At least 1 out of 4 movies deserve to be chucked into that lowest circle of hell.
We should probably have a special category both for "1" and for "10." The true "masterpieces" of each level.

i just saw this movie. the cgi was awful, especially at the end when merrin was walking in rome.
why is it that "bad" things are always set in africa? the premise isn't racist against africans but against the continent itself!
i don't think renny harlin was really to blame in this case. he was picking up a paycheck. what surprised me was that stellan skarsgard stuck around for the second shoot. it's a lot of life to waste on a movie that was canned by its own people in the first place.
