What are retarded cover. THIS IS NOT AN ACTION MOVIE!!! The 1 sheet was a much better image and much better represented the movie. Ugly.

Agreed. Now looks like a direct to dvd movie. A LOT of covers are downgrades.

Can someone please answer: Why do movie studios change the DVD cover art from the original movie poster art? I don't actually remember this practice taking place during VHS days. The VHS covers seemed to be what the movie posters were. Why the change and why change the art? To me a movie poster creates a brand, and then when a DVD cover is changed like for this movie, it almost gives it an entirely different feel, and in this case less appealing.

Because in the filed of art and graphic design, once a piece of promotional art is made (movie poster) it is copyrighted for that specific purpose. In most cases, this art work is generally done by outside sources for the studios and is only given specific permission to use on limited media, such as a movie poster. You may notice that even your DVD menus are made by different media companies that are not owned by the specific movie studio; same rules of copyright apply to this art media, as well. It is easier and cheaper to make a new cover for the DVD than to spend the money on lawyers to buy and debate over the high-expense of purchasing the copyrights for the DVD cover. Yes, even the world of art (print media) has sold out to Corporate America. It might suck on the consumer end but I can???t blame artists and graphic designers for not wanting to be known as ???starving??? anymore.

appreciate the review, but would like to know if there was any real difference in the audio options, particularly the DTS and the Dolby options....

There is no DTS option, at least not on the screener I was sent. I don't think it was an option to begin with, but I could be wrong. With that said, the 5.1 is easily the best mix on the DVD.

I like the cover.

I didn't find the film to be anything special- rating it among the year's best seems a bit much IMO. (Spoilers ahead!) B-movie sounds about right though. Maybe no big surprises were the director's intention because there were none at certain key moments. Basically it seemed like another violent (at times) mob/revenge flick. The son becoming like his father in the school scene didn't seem realistic and plausable after everything we had seen leading up to it- in how the boy behaved and reacted. Didn't buy it for a second. The cast was fine and I liked the William Hurt cameo. Cronenberg's underrated horror classic The Fly remake is definitely his high water mark as a filmmaker- THAT was brilliantly crafted, and with a witty and intelligent script as well.
