Tim, in case you want to know, Louis and Lestat are sorta gay. Don't read the rest of this if you'd rather not know why that is. In Rice's world, when a human becomes a vampire, they lose the ability to reproduce and consequently feel no sexual desire in the traditional sense of the word. So they can't have sex. This also happens to be one of the reasons why Lestat made Claudia, he thought it would be good for them and help them stay together. But as for their relationship, it's more of that deep spiritual agape love between men that they share (think pederasty in ancient Greece, in which actual sexual relations were somewhat frowned upon). Although in the second novel they do end up kissing and you find out that Lestat was indeed bisexual in life. Hopefully this clears that issue up for you.

not_the_one,
Thanks for the info. I have heard this talked about among fans of the novels. Some say all the vampires were gay while others claim they were all bi-sexual. Your take on it is pretty much how I feel about it. Nevertheless, I think the film treaded very lightly over the topic, thus making it confusing and unclear. To me, the film creators presented a "maybe" factor, then left the audience to think whatever they wanted. Then again, it may have been a good choice to not focus higly on the sexual overtones, as it may have overshadowed the enitre story.

tim,
actually, even the vampires don't know if they're hetero, homo, or bi.
