Interesting, I wasn't as enamored with this movie as Eddie and Hock were. I enjoyed it to be sure, but it just didn't work for me. Perhaps it's because it was trumpeted as a masterwork before I ever witnessed it myself, but it simply drug on and didn't resonate. I'll be happy to give it another go, however.

This film is certainly very different from any of the animated films you see today. Using the 1950s nuclear paranoia as a backdrop, it brings a message of tolerance and understanding of something that is alien to us. Not to mention a very hopeful ending as well.

I think it's one of the best kids movies ever made. How could a movie about an Iron Gaint go wrong? The robot was gaint and the movie itself was gaint.

Not to nitpick, but Hogarth did not advise the Giant about anything to do with being a hero. He told the Giant that it did not have to be a weapon- it could be whatever it wanted to be. It chose to be a hero.
