OMG I'm so excited!!! I can't wait one moment longer for this DVD. The last one was beyond words and I have a feeling this will be better. The Two Towers is by far the best movie ever made!!!! Legolas is sooo hott he makes me ashamed of my ugliness. And Dominic Monoghan (Merry) is a the greatest person ever. I have the most extreme pleasure to know him. It will be very sad day ideed when The Return of the King-Extended Edition is released. For that will be the end. Until then I will keep dreaming and keep watching my Extended Edition DVDs.

I just have a short comment:

After watching the extended cut and 2 of the commentaries (writers/directors and cast), I HAVE to say that Elijah Wood and Sean Astin are the most ANNOYING PAIR EVER. They're constantly cutting into Andy Serkis and trying to vie for attention. And worst of all, they try to sound deep and everything and end up excrutiatingly flat. They can't make a point across without taking a decade. They are also incredibly not funny. They suck. :@

To be fair, they were quite entertaining in Fellowship, but in this one they are just plain crap. Get a life, Sean and Elijah. Why can't you remain civil and coherent while the others could?????

Oh, I would like to add to the above:

Dom and Billy are a delightful pair. Christopher Lee - LOTR encyclopedia. John Ryhs-Davies gave some pretty good comments here and there, and so did the rest of the cast. The commentary would have been perfect if it weren't for The Notorious Wood and Astin co.

I think the background scenes on the sons of Gondor were great additions as well. Faramir's character is perceived in a completely different manner. Instead of being the type of man Elrond has lost faith in, he was given reasoning behind his actions... which of course was to gain acceptance from his father.

Right. Moving on to the DVD, I think the color motif is definitely cool. It's like a little piece of Middle Earth for your storage space. Definitely the best film of the 3. Just like Empires Strikes Back, or Attack of the Clones, or The Lost World, or Once Upon A Time In China II. This time, 8 words on the title, but still 10 hrs on the extras, metaphorically speaking. LOOK at the beautiful gold-embossed lettering. Tolkien would be proud, (even more so than the DVD perhaps, since he's never seen one.) :@ (Waiting for the third extended edition? Me too. And so's Santa.)

I can't get over the intense level of jaggies and digital artefacts this DVD presents. I just watched it on my 72" screen and I almost had to stop watching it got so annoying. Some scenes are spot on perfect, but everytime the camera pans you get these ugly, tiny blocks that pop up on the smaller details. Every time you see chainmail at a distance it looks like rainbow tye die. I can assure you it's not my T.V., as other films have none of these afore mentioned problems. I really don't think this is a great transfer at all (aside from the great contrast, clarity of the image and colour definition) and would give it a mediocre seven. Give it a check sometime, the same problems are prevailent on the other two films as well. I really don't know why that is. Hopefully the HDDVD will fix it.
