Reader, The (DVD)

This is an underrated and remarkable film. It's beyond me why it was so maligned when it got its Oscar nominations, especially for Best Picture. In retrospect, it may not have been as powerful as Milk or as entertaining as Slumdog Millionaire, but it's a movie that will be highly regarded in a few years. This is a near-great piece of filmmaking.

i agree with manohla dargis's review. this is just an "upscale" version of holocaust porn.
