John, I, too, was intrigued by the fact that the film was released in theatres with a 2.35:1 image ratio but was released on DVD with a 1.77:1 image ratio. However, my guess is that the filmmakers and Mala Vista simply reduced the amount of matting that they did with the Super 35 image.

All this is still confusing because they printed the film anamorphically--which means that they took a 2.35:1 image from the original in-camera negative (which would be a roughly square-shaped area) and re-printed the images for theatrical prints. Therefore, the DVD transfer was done from the original in-camera negative and not the theatrical dupe! They sure as hell did a lot of extra work...for what reason? LOL.
