This film makes you want to fall in love. It is unbelievably soppy and sugar coated. But I love it. It is one of my favourite romantic comedies. It will make you laugh and cry, sometimes at the same time.
This was, in my opinion, the begining of Hanks rise to stardom. He is perfect here. And Ryan, well what can I say ? She has done this kind of role so many times, but here she is still fresh and perfect as the confused woman in love.
The direction and screenplay are both full of life and extremely witty.
The DVD is well put together. Although it is not worthy of the special edition tag. As it is, my region 2 disc has a decent transfer with DD surround sound. The extras include a witty commentary from the director, a couple of featurettes and the trailer. But this is the kind of film I would buy even if its DVD was bare with a crappy transfer and mono sound. Yep, its that good. Go watch it and fall in love ... again.
