Wow James, nice love letter for Spidey 3.
I thought it was not only the worst of the three films, but one of the worst of the summer, certainly the biggest letdown.
Too many characters and situations that felt rushed and poorly written. And plenty of cheese. Too much. A 9 is as eye-rolling inducing as many of Spidey 3 scenes were. Yeah, I liked the first two, but this was a total disaster.

What can I say? I liked it a lot. I acknowledged the cheese in my review, but I obviously don't agree with you on the plot and character development. As I said, I thought they juggled a lot of things pretty adroitly. But as one reviewer once wrote, "If everyone agreed, only one of us would have a job." We don't write reviews based on what other people think. Like an ump, we just call 'em like we see 'em. My guess is that a lot of people will side with you on this one. I'm just not one of them!

Jim,
Admit it, you haven't been getting enough sleep lately, have you?
I loved Spider-Man 2 - probably the best super-hero movie of the recent wave. Spider-Man 3 was bad I'd put it in the laughably bad category. "Near disaster" bad category. The Spider-Man TV movies from the 70s were better than this one.
Hell, FF2 was better, and that was bad.

By the way, if you're inclined to think I'm too generous or too blown away by how gorgeous the special effects looked on Blu-ray and want to hear what kindred spirits have to say, read Jason Vargo and John J. Puccio's review: - EXTERNAL LINK -

Crap, the link doesn't work!
In any case, if special effects on a mega budget movie look shabby today then we really do have a problem. The Sandman transformation was great, but I've never been a fan of the cartoony-looking CGI Spidey. It's never been convincing and always pulled me out of the movie a bit. My main thing with this installment was the shabby writing, and as far as character development, there was little to none, so I'd like to know where James saw any of it. As for Peter and MJ, it was more of the same. Peter's trip to the dark side was cheesy, campy and shallow.

I figured it out Jim: You just liked all the singing and dancing. :)

Everyone has their own opinions, but I also thought S-M 3 was awful. One of the worst movies I've seen in years.
