WWII...submarines...testosterone washing the decks...
What defines Guy Movie more than that?
I know this movie has garnered a mediocre reputation, especially when Das Boot exists in comparison, but I found this to be an engaging and often tense exercise in portraying the claustrophobia of submarine warfare.
The cast does admirably enough, though some lulls do slow down the pacing at times, but the picture and sound are top-notch. Tape down anything you don't want broken, 'cause this dts track delivers the LFE.
Is it the best sub movie around? No. Leave that distinction to Das Boot and Hunt For Red October. Is this worth the rental and spending a couple of hours on? Most definitely.
If you like sub movies and boffo LFE, go ahead and check it out.
