The Warriors do not know they are beeing hunted for the death of Cyrus, until they hear it from the girl gang. That's why they wear their colors. To them it's just about getting back to Coney Island.

I watched the movie with kind of dated eyes and in the same context as if I would watch Streets of Fire. It's a document of the 70's, but in a cartoonic way.

For me it's a popcorn flick, but one of the better ones I'd prefer over Sahara or National Treasure anytime.

A 7 in my book :)

I didn't think much of this movie when I first saw it in 1979. I was expecting a BOYZ IN THE HOOD or MENACE 2 SOCIETY. This didn't even come close to THE BLACKBOARD JUNGLE.
The recent video game based on THE WARRIORS made by the creative team who made GRAND THEFT AUTO translated this movie faithfully that youthful gamers who weren't even born when the movie came out now want to see it.
I don't play games. Usually games based on movies don't fare well. The exception to this rule are the STAR WARS, JAMES BOND, AND LORD OF THE RINGS games. So when intrest in a 26 year old movie resurfaces because of a video game, I don't know whether to re-watch the movie or start playing games.
My son who is estremely involved in games and game systems said THE WARRIORS is the best of all the recent videogames being sold.
