Way back when Fox was planning the first DVD release of "X-Men", the studio wanted to do many cool things with it, including offering a directors cut via seamless branching (none of this "pause movie, then access, then pause again after the clip" nonsense). That way, you could choose to watch either the theatrical version or the directors cut without flipping or changing discs. However, since the DVD came out a mere four months after the theatrical bow, they rushed the discs production and handled some things poorly. When the cast re-assembled for "X-Men 2", Fox seized the opportunity to shoot some scenes that were scrapped from the first movies script so that they could finally let Bryan Singer complete a directors cut. However, for "1.5", they ended up using the same idiotic "extended branching", and those scenes are still non-anamorphic. Then, they didnt bother to include the newly-shot footage. Given the care devoted to DVD special editions nowadays and given how Fox has created some awesome releases, I dunno why theyre being tools with "X-Men". Its kinda depressing.

Well its been raining all day on the 4th. My family invited me to go watch the fireworks with them down on the water but Id rather be dry watching a movie. After watching SM2 I decided to watch a little Xmen.

Being a fan of the comics and 90's cartoon in gradeschool I really enjoy watching this movie. And it's really understandable as to why people who aren't already accustomed to the world of x-men to find it less appealing. Where as Spiderman and Batman have much smaller scopes when it comes to characters, X-men really throws the viewer into the middle of a wide range of characters where it's almost a pre-requisette to have knowledge of the X-men universe to fully appreciate the movie.

The opening scene remains to be one of my favorite movie openers. Magneto cometh!

" what do they call you.... wheels? "
