Whoever said critics were highbrow? The Online Film Critics Society members who voted in the OFCS's first blog poll narrowly chose the 1987 Steve Martin and John Candy comedy, "Planes, Trains and Automobiles" as their favorite Thanksgiving-themed film.
And whom did Martin and Candy edge out? None other than Woody Allen and his 1986 dramedy, "Hannah and Her Sisters," which opens on one family holiday and ends with another a year later. Coming in a distant third was the 2003 indie flick, "Pieces of April," which starred Katie Holmes as an outcast daughter who invites the family for turkey dinner. Tied for fourth were "Home for the Holidays" (1995, Holly Hunter) and Ang Lee's "The Ice Storm" (1997, Kevin Kline, Elena Hood).
Think they were influenced by holiday travel?
