Amazon.com has send an email to consumers who bought a HD DVD player before February 23rd, 2008.

Here a transcript of the email:
As someone who purchased an HD DVD player from us before February 23, 2008,* you might like to hear about a special offer available from Amazon.com.

New technologies don't always work out as planned. We at Amazon.com value our customer relationships more than anything and would like to support customers who purchased these players by offering a credit good for $50 off any products sold by Amazon.com.** Just use promotional code XXX-XXX-XXX when checking out. The code is valid through April 9, 2009, so you have plenty of time to use your credit. Purchases from third-party merchants on our site are not eligible.

* On February 23, 2008, the last manufacturer of HD DVD players announced it was ceasing production of those players.

** Offer cannot be used to pay for special-order titles, e-books or downloadable e-content, wireless service plans, gift certificates, gift-wrap, taxes, or shipping and handling charges. $50.00 promotional credit is per HD DVD player purchased prior to February 23, 2008--up to 10 units for a maximum credit of $500.00.

Although I bought my HD-DVD player on Amazon, I bought it through Tiger, so no $50 for me... No biggie I got 5 cards from Best Buy this week.

Well I already spent my 50. One year of Xbox live and a Screen protector for my Zune. I only had to pay 1.16... and chose free shipping.

Did anyone NOT get the email from Amazon??

I am good with an HD-A35, and a pair of HD-A30's purchased before February 23 that were sold direct through Amazon and not any 3rd party merchants.

I never received an email from Amazon, even checked the spam filter and nothing there either.

I guess if I don't hear from them today that I'll have to call and request the $50 offer.

According to Henning's story, the $50 rebate is cumulative up to as many as 10 players, so I guess they owe me $150 of store credit

What better way to spend the credit, than to go back and buy a lot more HD DVD's on the cheap, and probably a few Blu Ray titles as well

I only hope that I get to see the email before my wife does, or I'll end up with an extra $150 of her books around the house, instead of my HD Discs.
