American Gangster on HD DVD is loaded with signature features and state-of-the-art technology, including real-time interactivity, picture in picture, scene sharing, and web-enabled bonus content, giving viewers the power to go deeper into this intense true crime-thriller.
"American Gangster kicks off the year in a big way as we release one of the most high-profile and celebrated titles of 2007 on HD DVD," said Craig Kornblau, President of Universal Studios Home Entertainment and Universal Pictures Digital Platforms. "Making it available on HD DVD Combo Disc is a win-win proposition for those consumers passionate about watching their content in high-def while also affording them the ultimate convenience of being able to watch the same movie on every home or portable DVD player they own."

chemteam, you should be taking this as a very good sign of Universal's continued commitment to HD DVD. This is the first new release announced by them (or Paramount) since before the holidays. Perhaps things are looking up for HD DVD after all!

Hey being duel format means I get to watch everything regardless if Universal and Paramount stay with HD DVD
American Gangster is a good movie too, so I'll be watching it.

Actually hawk if you have read some of my posts you will see that I am dual format as well. I own 2 hd dvd players and I do lean towards hd dvd along with probably 90% of the posters in this forum. But I also own a ps3, a Sony upconverting dvd player, and a 50" Sony HDTV and I am happy with all 3 of these Sony purchases. I lean toward hd dvd because I feel that at this time it seems to be more consumer friendly and I have had some bad experiences with Sony in the past. Sony makes some really good technology though. My 360 broke down twice but my ps3 is still going strong. I own several blu-ray titles and will continue to buy blu-ray movies if there are any that interest me. Watched 3:10 to Yuma and Sunshine last week. Yuma's visual transfer didn't seem much better than the standard picture upconverted. It's audio transfer, however, was excellent. Sunshine was very good in both of those categories. Now I'm looking at getting Lost season 3 on blu-ray just in time for the season 4.
