Denon launches a "Batman Promotion" with Warner to help sell their line of Blu-ray players.

To be eligible to receive the titles, consumers must buy Denon's $749 DVD-1800BD, $999 DVD-2500BTCI or $1,999 DVD-3800BDCI between Nov. 23 to Jan. 10. Denon buyers will be asked to return their players´ proof of purchase and a claim form in order to score copies of Dark Knight and Batman Begins.

"The Dark Knight truly epitomizes what this high-resolution format has to offer for home entertainment, both in terms of high-quality content, image and sound," said Joe Stinziano, senior VP of sales and marketing at Denon. "Most importantly, our Blu-ray promotion with Warner is designed to benefit both our valued retail partners as well as consumers by generating excitement for Blu-ray products. Consumers will be looking for a strong value this holiday, season and an attractive offer tied to the year´s highest grossing film will help drive store traffic and sales."

And their cheapest bluray player is $749??

I'll take the Panasonic BD30 or BD35 any day for $200 and just buy the movies for $20 each.

Yeah, no kidding. Maybe the reason why Denon needs help to sell their players is that they are so ridiculously priced. In today's economy, 999 times out of 1000 consumers are going to go for the $200 players... plain and simple.

as ridiculous as those prices seem to us, there are always rich people with a lot of money to spend.

still, that begs the question...why would someone who can afford a $1,500 blu-ray player need freebies?

Bruce Wayne would rather buy a Panasonic and give the leftover money to charity.

i'm watching my review copy of the blu-ray version right now. the pq is excellent but not the best that i've seen. the imax sequences are not as impressive as what i saw with "the alps".

You know eddie, I think you're right. I just got my preview disk from Warnsies yesterday and it is not a clean as I thought it would be. The Black levels look wiped. Did they changed the equip or settings from the first disk? Was it even film on the first shoot. Skyhawk will google it. hehe. Or is it the adaptaion to BD? Even Paramounts Iron Man was not that clear. But, DORK-e was great for picture, but was ok for story, and Tropic Thunder looked great...! I love that movie BTW... WTF.?

BTW anyone that stupid to pay over $500 for a DENON/YAMAHA/Marantz Clone has to be out of their minds...
