Hey, at least it looks like it has great extras, unlike many new hi-def releases...

but seriously. who cares about releases like this? they have such a big catalog of releases i would rather choose from. Aliens just to name one. the digabits mentioned a small slate of fox titles coming this year for fox, most of which i'm not the least bit interested in. who decides these things?

Come on guys. Is this REALLY a shock? The Dark Knight hits theaters July 8. Batman: Gotham Knights comes out from Warner July 1. Batman Begins gets to Blu Ray on July 1. Of COURSE Fox is going to ride the Batman wave.

Warner did the same thing when Superman Returns came out. A glut of Superman related product right before the movie and then the mega Ultimate Supes set in November with the DVD.

Good grief, this isn't rocket science.

Jason, HAPPY this is coming to BD

I've owned the SD-DVD version of this campy classic for a few years now, having seen it on TV years ago as well. Visually, there's nothing special about it (so a hi-def version is irrelevant), even in widescreen. The attraction to the film is due to it's age, humour, 4 major villains, and a brief romance between an unmasked Catwoman and the unmasked Batman (Bruce Wayne). The musical soundtrack can be quite lively at times. Still, it's not worth picking up on Blu-ray unless you can get for $10 or under on a discount sale, which will surely happen by Christmas probably. As Jason implied, it's release on Blu-ray is just taking advantage of the summer 'Dark Knight' film, and the Batman Begins Blu-ray release.

Hendrix, I haven't seen the film since I reviewed the original SE DVD WAY WAY WAY back in the day, but as I remember, Batman always made full use of the then-new color television sets. Therefore, at least the colors should be eye popping, giving at least one reason to consider this release. The Batman trivia track sounds like some fun, as does the commentary with West and Ward (I don't recall if this was included on the first release).

Hell, I'm SO beyond ready for West's Batman to hit disc, I will most likely support this release to possibly help get DC and/or Warner and/or Fox talking about the series again. (And I'm just a superhero whore...)

Jason, has even contemplated picking up Catwoman

Very good points Jason. Yeah, if they do an HD remastering, it just might make an improvement in the film. (still, for me I'll just rent it when interested).
