The HD DVD Promo Group has canceled their press conference at CES. It was planned for Sunday in Las Vegas.

An e-mail with the following message was sent to the press:
"Based on the timing of the Warner Home Video announcement today, we have decided to postpone our CES 2008 press conference scheduled for Sunday, January 6th at 8:30 p.m. in the Wynn Hotel. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

We are currently discussing the potential impact of this announcement with the other HD DVD partner companies and evaluating next steps. We believe the consumer continues to benefit from HD DVD´s commitment to quality and affordability – a bar that is critical for the mainstream success of any format."

We´ll continue to keep you updated on new developments around HD DVD.

Postponed is not cancelled, but it does sound more dramatic.

lol...even I found that funny

With an anoucement like that...yeah, that's pretty much writing on the wall.

I just don't see why they concede now. Personally, I don't think WB has put out enough to worry yet, but oh well. Now my conundrum is "pick up cheap ass HD-DVD markdowns or buy them on Blu"

If people get paranoid and start selling off their HD DVD's I'll be buying them all up like crazy. I'm hoping to get box sets like Planet Earth, The Matrix Trilogy, Oceans 13, etc for cheap amongst other movies Maybe the HD XA2's will drop in price also which would be sweet. The 5.1 analogue outs and the Reon HQV chip for DVD's are still big features to me. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens.

Bring on the sales!

"The devil bowed his head 'cause he knew he'd been beat"

This comes on the heels of a non-Sony report that blu-ray players outsold hd DVD players in December. I have thought the decision was a no brainer from the beginning. Glad I chose right.
