Great commercial use of the Shrek characters! Love the sadistic Gingy clip the most! Good to see that HD DVD is fighting back against the Blu with their own campaigns!

What campaigns? In the last couple months, I've seen three different ads for HD and zero for Blu-ray. Not that I'm taking Sony's side, but where is this whimsical BD ad campaign that all the HD fanboy-nazis are talking about? Or do some of you also have your own blend of coolade?

Look, I don't care for Sony as a business entity, either. I think they're greedy as hell, but at least people can just simply not buy their products. Oil companies are far more greedy and there isn't a damn thing anyone can do, even if they could, people are so freakin' lazy to get off their butts to do anything. Point is, its amazing how digital technology far exceeds bigger world problems.

Tim we can't just stop buying oil, we need it...for now. Although there are other more expensive alternatives we still need oil for the time being. As for Sony, you know very well there are many other options in the electronics industry that are better for cheaper. Sony is just a name brand that people feel secure about because of their past but they are nowhere near what they used to be.

I personally prefer Toshiba, Samsung, Pioneer, Sharp, Yamaha, Onkyo...over Sony. I could go on with this list but it would never end.

I have always felt Sony products were over priced so I will look to see what else is out there.

I agree Sony is over priced and overrated, I'm not arguing that at all. All I'm asking is where is this big ad campaign that HD is up against? The fanboy-nazis always mention it but the only ads I've seen for any player is the Panasonic HD. I've never seen an ad for Blu-ray nor do I know anyone who has seen a BD ad. If Sony was really pushing their product in my face I would see ads all the time on television . . . Hell, I don't even hear a radio ad for them. And yes, I have heard a radio ad for the Panasonic HD player. Perhaps this big Sony campaign is happening in some other part of the country or world? I can assure you it's not happening in my neck of the woods.

And the other gripe that gets me is the display thing. The two Best Buys & Ultimate Electronics I go to have equal displays for BD & HD. I have seen no bias towards one or the other. The sales reps in BB I've chatted with have tried to sway me towards Blu-ray, but in retail they're trained to sell the products that are not moving -- kind of basic retail sales 101 stuff. The targets and Wal*marts I've been to don't even have a popup display for either or. They have seperate areas for where they sell the movies, but I don't see ballons or streamers around the players. So, where in the heck are these bias displays for Blu-ray?

I get the feeling fanboy-nazis like to over-exaggerate and make up their own brand of coolade. Oh ,wait, that IS what they do! That's why they're fanboy-nazis.

Yeah, I haven't seen any Blu-ray campaigning. The only ads I've seen on TV are for movies when they say "buy it now on DVD and Blu-ray disc" and that's it.

Agreed, and I've seen ads for the same thing in HD.

I watched ads for both Blu-ray and HD DVD during several of Sunday's football games. Obviously, both format camps know where their audience is--males in the 20 - 40 year age bracket--and went after that audience. No, I don't fit the age demographic, but I'm a male who likes football in high definition, so three outa four ain't bad.
